In a major milestone for the field of information and communication technology (ICT) in Kosovo, the National Research School in ICT (NRSI) will be inaugurated on March 3rd, 2023, in Pristina. The school is the product of the PhDICTKES project, which aims to develop and enhance the capacity of higher education institutions in Kosovo to offer advanced PhD programs in ICT.
The NRSI is a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology, the European Union, Linnaeus University in Sweden, the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, the South East European Research Center (SEERC) in Greece and several leading universities in Kosovo. The school aims to promote interdisciplinary research and development in ICT, with a focus on cutting-edge areas such as data science, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and network infrastructure. The school will offer doctoral programs, as well as short courses and workshops, to equip researchers with the necessary skills and knowledge to tackle the most pressing challenges in the field.
The inauguration ceremony will be attended by high-level officials, including the Prime minister of the Republic of Kosovo, the Minister of Education, Science, and Technology, the Norwegian ambassador to Kosovo, the Swedish Embassy Representative, Deputy-Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Rectors of partner universities as well as prominent academics, researchers, and industry experts. The event will feature keynote speeches, panel discussions, and interactive workshops aimed at showcasing the potential of the NRSI and the opportunities it offers.
